July Connect: Note From Pastor Paul & Karen
Perspecitve What is it? A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view. Perspective has a Latin root meaning “look through” or “perceive” and all the meanings of perspective have something to do with looking. (The way one sees life, the angle or direction in which a person looks at an object, point of view) “The reality of life is that your perceptions – right or wrong- influence everything you do. When you get a proper perspective of your perceptions, you may be surprised how many other things fall into place.” Dr. Roger Birkman (Dr. James Dobson’s mentor)
We have been affected by Covid-19, discrimination issues, total changes of schedules in some cases and the impact of our economy along with political uncharted territories.
Some quotes to help us think about perspective:
“Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path…” “The right perspective makes the impossible possible.” “Your perspective will either become your prison or your passport.” “When Goliath came against the Israelites, the soldiers all thought, “He is so big we can never kill him.” David looked at the same giant and thought, “He is so big, I can’t miss him.”
How do we respond? With TRUTH? Hopefully yes! Stay in the Word of Truth! Read the Word! Study and meditate on the Word of Truth! Read a Proverbs chapter daily. Listen to the messages on line and our Pastor Connects. Attend one of our Bible studies on line. Learn to Praise Him in the midst of the difficulty. Trust Him! Rely upon Him and His faithful promises. Then our perspectives will come in line with our God’s perspecitive.
“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you.” Phil. 4:8,9 Other verses to encourage your thinking in the right direction as to lead us to a right perspective: “Trust in the LORD for ever; for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.” Is. 26:4, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil. 4:13, “In all these things, we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Rom. 8:37, “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make your free.” John 8:32,
As he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Prov. 23:7, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, declares the LORD.” Is. 55:8 “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” I Corin. 2:16
~ Prayer: Lord, in these difficult and uncertain days, help us to desire, consider, know and experience YOUR PERSPECTIVE in our daily lives, for your glory and as a witness of your grace and peace.
