A Note from Pastor Paul & Karen

When we were first married, at age 18 & 19, we enjoyed searching for treasures at yard sales to fill our newly purchased log house!  Since we are sentimental people, we still enjoy some of those treasures. One such item was a little ceramic wall hanging that only cost some change.  That little plaque has hung in Pastor Paul’s office for over 35 years and continues to be an encouragement to us today.  It reads “Only one life will soon be past.  Only what’s done for Christ will last.”  This statement remains very true today, for each of us!

As we contemplate the ending of 2020 with all of its hardships, heartbreaks, changes, and challenges, let’s look forward with joy (in Christ) to a hopeful Christmas season and then to the prospects of living a life of service for Christ in 2021. “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13

Let’s celebrate a Christ centered Christmas season, thanking and praising God for His unspeakable gift (II Corin. 9:15) and for all of our many blessings!  We challenge each of you to find new ways to serve Him this Christmas and in the upcoming year. “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.  And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” I John 3:16

We are blessed with ONE LIFE and that life has a purpose, a God given plan for each of us.  Let’s make our time here on earth count and focus on Him and His purpose for us! “For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus; that if ONE died for all, then all died, and He died for all that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.  II Corinthians 5:14,15

Be encouraged today that your life counts and you can live for Him, through the power of the Holy Spirit!

We pray that each of you stay well, encouraged and are able to enjoy this Christmas season as you keep your focus on Him!

We love you!

Only One Life

By C.T. Studd

Two little lines I heard one day,

Traveling along life’s busy way;

Bringing conviction to my heart,

And from my mind would not depart;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,

Soon will its fleeting hours be done;

Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,

And stand before His Judgement seat;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice,

Gently pleads for a better choice

Bidding me selfish aims to leave,

And to God’s holy will to cleave;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years,

Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;

Each with its clays I must fulfill,

living for self or in His will;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore,

When Satan would a victory score;

When self would seek to have its way,

Then help me Lord with joy to say;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,

In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;

Faithful and true what e’er the strife,

Pleasing Thee in my daily life;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn,

And from the world now let me turn;

Living for Thee, and Thee alone,

Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;

Only one life, ’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,

Now let me say,”Thy will be done”;

And when at last I’ll hear the call,

I know I’ll say “twas worth it all”;

Only one life,’twill soon be past,

Only what’s done for Christ will last.
