May Connect: Note from Pastor Paul & Karen
Essential ~ We are often hearing the word “ESSENTIAL” these days. Webster’s Dictionary definition: “Absolutely necessary, extremely important.” Synonyms for essential: required, necessary, primary, imperative, indispensable, vital, crucial. So! This has made us think of you all! We want each of you to know that YOU are each ESSENTIAL! You are absolutely necessary and extremely important to us, to this church and to our community! I Corinthians 12:27 “…ye are the body of Christ and members in particular.” (You collectively are Christ’s body and individually you are members of it, each with your own special purpose and function.) The church is not the building but the people, YOU! YOU are the church and YOU are essential or extremely important. Other “essentials” for the Christian: THE WORD OF GOD is essential. (II Timothy 3:16) TRUSTING THE LORD is essential! (Proverbs 3:5,6) PRAYING is essential! (James 5:16) LOVING EACH OTHER AND HELPING EACH
OTHER is essential! (John 13:34) PRAISING THE LORD FOR HIS GOODNESS is essential. (Psalm 107: 15, 21, 31) Let’s continue to grow in all of these areas, AS HIS CHURCH and we will come out of this pandemic victoriously.
What if we allowed this pandemic to be used to change us? What if the slowing down caused us to heed the still small voice, to really hear Him and bring us to our knees? Let’s spend time in the Word and in prayer every day to get through this in a way that brings glory to our great God.
If we are trusting in the Lord, then we should not be worrying. Corrie Ten-Boom said “Worrying is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength – carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”
“Days of trouble must be days of prayer.” Matthew Henry
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Love and prayers,
Pastor Paul and Karen
